Driveway Drainage

Landscaping crew today dug the trenches for placing pipe extending from the gutter downspouts under the driveway, as well as the drain tile for the retaining wall.  Almost done, just short a little bit on gravel...

Structured Wiring Closet

I'm doing all my own low voltage structured wiring in the house, so I built out the closet where all the lines I ran for phone, video and ethernet will come together and be distributed...

Retaining Wall Block

Footers poured and block work is going up (these will ultimately be wrapped with brick to match the house.

Feels like I'm starting all over again pouring a foundation ;-)

Landscaping Starts

Step 1 in landscaping has started, to pour the footers for our retaining walls.

Final paint coat in some rooms has finally started.  Still a long way to go though for those ridiculously slow painters.

Drywall Point Up Done

All nails, cracks, marks, etc. fixed up now ready for final paint coat...

Staining Deck

I decided to stain the deck myself which I thought was a good idea until I had to get up on ladders and basically hang in the air 25 feet while trying to stain the outside parts!  Only about 25% so far...

More Cabinets

We added more cabinets to both laundry rooms to add overhead cabinet space and a folding table...

Gutters

We went with black gutters to give a contrast instead of the traditional white.  I think it looks good everywhere except the dormer over the garage, that really didn't come out as I had imagined.  I think at some point I'm going to change the dormer gutters to white...

Stain and Paint

Finally stained the front columns and door.  It's really a clear coat stain, that let's the color and grain of the Cedar columns and Mahogany doors come through...

The deck ceiling was painted...

And all the exterior is now painted...

Final Trim & Painting

Final details for trim completed.  This is the flex trim specially ordered for over the arched doorway.

Added a second dumby knob to match on the front door.

Trimmed out the unfinished attic stairway with pine treads, risers, kick board and handrail to make the stairway more safe.

Access doors to unfinished spaces have doors with weather stripping  now.

And painting continues.
