Waterproofing and the lost of a friend

Waterproofing applied to the foundation...

And the bad weather with strong winds saw to it that my favorite tree is no more.  I guess the best news is that massive tree didn't come crashing down directly on the foundation.  It actually fell in the best possible location...

Foundation walls

The wall forms where stripped today.  There was a lot of standing water in the inside of the foundation in some areas, so I had to use a garden house to siphon out a lot of it.  Trying to dry it out in time for the plumber hopefully tomorrow.

Enough rain already!

So we pour the foundation walls, and then it promptly rains.  A lot.  Not good.  It really shouldn't be a structural issue, but it still doesn't make me feel any better.  I'm just going to close my eyes and pretend that didn't just happen...

Wall forms and the tropical storm

Wall forms are almost done, but the tropical storm rolled in and looks like it will delay any further work and pouring of the foundation walls until Monday.

Forms and Footers

Turned out to be a good day temperature wise, just touching 80 degrees briefly.  They set the forms and rebar in the morning, had the inspector out in the early afternoon, and had the footers poured before dark...

The hole

Well, we have a hole.  Initial excavation done.  Tomorrow footers...

Also, the electric pole is now live...

A few more trees to cut down

Foundation was scheduled to start today, but it rained heavily last night.  Probably a good thing as there were a couple more trees I wanted to remove, and it's just easier to do with a clear lot.  Luckily, one of the guys I work with is handy with the chain saw and helped me take them down today.
