Septic Erosion
We've had a lot of rain lately, and I was concerned about the amount of soil eroding from the septic field. I hoped to landscape and flatten the area before seeding, but it's just been too wet and schedules haven't lined up. So I gave in and seeded with rye grass as a temporary way to hold the soil until next year when I'll have to landscape it...
Basement Walls
The framing of the basement walls has begun. Not yet complete, but the exterior walls are there and some of the interior walls...

Termite treatment
Gravel was placed although there is some touch up to do in the morning. The Bug guy was out spraying under slab. Next up putting in the expansion joints, insulation board, vapor barrier and open floor inspection before pouring slab. Crossing fingers weather holds up to finish by end of week.

Gravel Day 1
Yep, it's raining. Again. And again. Seems like it's gonna be this way for awhile which is making things go painfully slow. But such is life...
First day of gravel placement is over, and if the rain stays away will be finished tomorrow. In all, we had 10 truck loads this size dumped on site while the excavator was busy placing it.
First day of gravel placement is over, and if the rain stays away will be finished tomorrow. In all, we had 10 truck loads this size dumped on site while the excavator was busy placing it.
We needed a total 175 tons of 57 3/4'' gravel to fill the big and deep garage box, and place about 4'' of gravel in the basement over the pipes.
Due to the amount of plumbing in the basement, it's making it really hard to maneuver the bobcat around to place the gravel.
That garage box was pretty darn deep, that's over 10 feet of self compacting gravel placed in there!
And this is how the basement ended up after day 1.

Digging out done
Well, done for now. If this project has taught me anything so far is there will always be more dirt, and the job is never done :)
Trust me, this took forever and damn near broke my back...

Digging out
Spent 3 hours in the morning on July 4th in 90 degree weather digging out buried footers. I almost died. Only 2 more mounds to do before gravel and slab next week :(
